MATEKUS - Integration of Technology in Vocational Training

Project Title: MATEKUS - Integration of Technology in Vocational Training
Project No: 2019-1-TR01-KA102-063327
Project Organizer: ARDA Beratung & Beratung GmbH
Partner Institution: Arsin Organized Industrial Zone Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Turkey
Number of Participants: 24

Project Overview:

The MATEKUS project was a strategic initiative aimed at addressing the critical need for skilled labor in the fields of machine technology and industrial automation within Turkey. As industries worldwide, including those in Turkey, rapidly evolve due to technological advancements, the demand for a workforce adept in the latest tools and systems has grown substantially. The project was designed to bridge this skills gap by providing specialized training to vocational students, thereby enhancing their employability and ensuring they can meet the needs of the modern labor market.

ARDA’s Role and Contribution:

ARDA Beratung & Beratung GmbH played a central role in the successful implementation of the MATEKUS project. Leveraging its extensive experience in international training programs and partnerships, ARDA was responsible for organizing the entire internship program in Berlin, Germany.

This included:

  • Coordination and Partnership Building: ARDA facilitated collaboration with TÜV Rheinland, a leading institution in vocational training and industry certification. This partnership ensured that the participants received training that met the highest industry standards.

  • Program Design and Implementation: ARDA meticulously designed the training modules to align with the specific needs identified by the Turkish partner institution. The training focused on two critical areas: sequential control systems and the use of CNC and PLC technologies. These are fundamental skills required in today’s manufacturing and automation sectors.

  • Cultural and Professional Integration: Recognizing the importance of cultural competence in international work environments, ARDA included sessions on cultural integration and professional conduct in Germany. This holistic approach helped participants not only gain technical skills but also adapt to the professional and cultural expectations of a globalized workforce.

Project Implementation:

The internship program was executed in two phases, with 20 students, including one with special needs, and 4 accompanying teachers participating. Each group underwent a two-week intensive training course, where they received hands-on experience in advanced workshops equipped with cutting-edge technology. The students worked on real-world projects under the guidance of experienced professionals, which allowed them to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical settings.

Key Outcomes and Impact:

The MATEKUS project yielded significant benefits for all stakeholders involved:

  • Enhanced Technical Skills: Participants acquired advanced competencies in CNC programming and PLC systems, directly translating into improved employability. These skills are in high demand in Turkey’s manufacturing and automation sectors, where there is a notable shortage of qualified technicians.

  • Strengthening of Institutional Capacity: The successful implementation of the project demonstrated ARDA's capability to organize and deliver complex international training programs. This has reinforced ARDA’s reputation as a reliable partner in vocational training and capacity building.

  • International Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange: The project fostered a strong partnership between Turkish and German institutions, paving the way for future collaborations. The exchange of knowledge and best practices between the participants and their German counterparts contributed to a richer learning experience and promoted cross-cultural understanding.

  • Long-term Sustainability: The project not only addressed immediate training needs but also laid the groundwork for future initiatives. The experiences and insights gained from MATEKUS will be utilized in subsequent projects, expanding the scope to other areas of vocational education.

Conclusion and Future Prospects:

ARDA Beratung & Beratung GmbH is proud to have been a key driver of the MATEKUS project, contributing to the development of a skilled workforce capable of meeting the challenges of a rapidly changing technological landscape. The project’s success underscores the importance of international cooperation in vocational training and sets a precedent for future endeavors. ARDA remains committed to fostering such collaborations and expanding its role in facilitating high-impact educational programs that benefit both individuals and industries.
